Like I have always taught to my acting and audition students. Its not always about who you know
but what could you offer and who are you to begin with?
Not because I am your facebook friend would I be more enticed to like or buy a product. So it has been quite obvious that no one on FB seems to be catching the point. Many request of suggestion online, even one in person where I literally had some dude take my phone out of my hand despite the fact I told him over the course of the discussion that I wasn't really on FB as frequently and liking his band would have not made such a great difference regardless on my liking the page. As if randomly getting any turkey to like your status or taste in Bowie could make a difference in what sales Bowie already has. Especially music that seems to play like a stalemate for an up and coming musician to make money on record sales just by "like' alone. OK maybe the could be a few exceptions but so far it seems Ad sense incentive media sites like YT and Blogger IS the right way to go if one wants to make a proper passive income and gain a following while at it. Like in this article and in any other chance to make a sale it always will take someone with moxie and some talent for the online camera, along with a kick ass concept of product. More or less in the same vein as Start ups. The difference is Doing this alone online requires plenty work ethic and the same requirements as if some one was starting a small corner store, or a restaurant, or service.
Another advantage is it is still new. The resources are available and not as complicated like previous early days of online marketing when dot com sites was the rage back in the 90s. The site didn't necessarily make the money but the traffic and products offered on the sites mosaic. Namely, porn sites worked fine as the product was always in demand for the ample market and expensive supply. Today producing online porn has  turned into an arcade of fun and endless links to lure a sex addict into the Porno Cloud, evidently running that card monthly. dating sites also have been an extremely cash cow for years and others still keep popping up with promises to connect you to that sould mate for 35 dollas a month just to read and respond to a letter from some one person who's is expecting this chat to be long term online as much as in person. Usually not the case as many looking for love have spent their own personal earnings and income to a complete stranger via that "Love exchange" site.
Of  course I am just generalising, not all smut gets all the business. Video online games tokens, beauty products, men's enhancement actually sell just on their links alone, once again via another site with no relevance like a google search for "sports injuries" in a news article could easily roll a pop up or roll over link of "Hormone pills" on 70% discount somewhere in the paragraph of that same newspaper article.
This is what has changed in how advertisers are actually allowing the savvy social media entrepreneur to create an interest to a product or service via a friend referral ..once again..via "Like" on FB.
Doesn't guarantee a sale to your linked bank account. More like a perk. Which is not bad either.
Since the early days of news and information, particularly in radio and television, the house wife was the target market for as long as advertising existed to inform potential clients of the best enmities, cleaning, food to provide for the household of the typical nuclear family.
Product placement in and or during a live broadcast was purposely integrated in the storyline of a serial.
Tied as second to word of mouth would most likely be where the cool people have been seen wearing our using that product such as Michael Jordan Air Nike's, which still are selling as a name brand of quality.
In essence of the golden rule of mass marketing one sure thing is supply and demand. Unless your Cyb friend demands info on a product they would best do to search out of FB.
